J Seven Media began working with SGN back in January 2022 to organise and implement a collaborative National carbon monoxide awareness campaign with all four UK gas networks. Since then, we have worked with all the networks independently to help raise awareness of gas related issues, emergencies and to help reduce incorrect calls to the gas emergency line with a ‘Make The Right Call’ campaign.

We developed copy and creative to communicate the single key message, to ‘Make The Right Call’, encouraging the public to think first and check before calling, with a goal to reduce incorrect calls to the gas emergency helpline which can become a significant issue, causing line congestion during winter months and colder weather periods.

With media placement, we employed a mix of transport media with bus rears for scale and visibility, traditional radio for audible repetition, social and online display for close proximity to the public and finally pharmacy bag advertising as an alternative element to reach a more vulnerable and elderly audience. All elements combined helped to produce a campaign resulting in significant reductions in incorrect calls to the gas emergency line, freeing up the service to those needing help for a genuine gas emergency.
